The pitch hard and fast and good for batting. The weather was great, three games for the weekend at the ground. The friday evening 20/20 game produced a tie, with each side scoring 166 runs. an Average of 8 runs per over. The seconds game produced 271 runs in 50 overs an average of 5.5 runs per over. The firsts game produced 440 runs in 94 overs and average of just below 5 runs per over.
This week the both play on Sunday. Both teams are in good form with Limerick Raiders defeating Cork County in their last outing, whilst Midleton accounted for Cork Harlequins
This should be an exciting game, with a feast of runs likely on the rock hard wicket at Midleton
The 2s take on Top of teh Ladder Kerry. It is a long drive and will be a hard game, but their is plenty of talent in the 2s side and a win is the players expectations. They have only sufferd one loss for the season when caught on a sticky wicket.

2009 Highlights
Midleton lose Minor Cup Final by 10 runs
This game was played at the Mardyke on a pitch that was sub optimal. Unfortunately affected by the rain on Saturday Morning.
It was somewhat mystifying when the umpires chose for the game should to proceed at 12 noon, given that this was allegedly a high profile game, that daylight was on the game's side, and the weather was forecast to improve as the day proceeded
Prior to this game both sides had been free scoring teams with scores of 180 plus, but on this day between them they struggled to bat for 50 overs and make 160 runs.
Midleton won the toss and had no hesitation in asking UCC to bat on the rain affected pitch, and in overcast conditions.
The UCC openers chanced their arms, with many balls going in the air just wide of outstretched palms.
In the 9th over Wilson was bowled for 17 with the score on 32.
The next pair continued to bat with luck, as required, until over number 20 when Hugh O'Leary was introduced into the attack. The other opener Paul fell for 16 with the score on 69.
Soon after Naverish, the top scorer, was run out by excellent fielding from Alex Tibshraeny, for 22
The last 46 balls of the UCC innings produced 8 wkts for 17 runs, as the pitch conditions proved too challenging for the lower order batsmen. All the team’s batting luck had been utilised in the first 20 overs.
Hugh O’Leary finished with figures of 4 for 10, although all bowlers performed well on this wicket.
Due to the early end of the UCC innings, Midleton were required to bat for 30 mins prior to tea.
In the 4th over, John McEvoy departed for 4 and it was 1 for 11, Josh O’Sullivan departed soon after for 1 and it was 2 for 14.
At Tea it was 2 for 28 from 9 overs with Liam Noone on 12, and Simon Casey on 1.
This was unfortunate break for Liam who had come to grips with the slow pitch, was on top of the bowling at this time.
Second ball after tea he was out and the score was 3 for 29.
John Noone joined Simon and they moved the score to 54, in the 19th over, before Simon played over a straight one.
The last 60 balls of the innings were carnage, with Midleton losing 7 for 22, as a drying pitch proved too much of a challenge for the lower order batsmen.
The game was completed at 4.24 pm in bright sunshine.
Sean was the best of the UCC bowlers with 5 for 27, ably assisted by Naverish with 4 for 12
Naverish was awarded the man of the match Trophy
The UCC upper order batsmen adapted better to the challenging pitch conditions and this was the deciding factor on the day. Both sides conceded 18 extras
Only four 4’s were struck for the day which indicates that the pitch was not in an appropriate state for a high profile one day final.
Congratulations to UCC on being the winners of Minor Cup for 2009.
